OUR IMPACT

Where Vision Meets Change

The Problem

A major problem in my country, Peru, is extreme poverty, resulting in the lack of education among other factors. If a person cannot read, write or study, their cognitive abilities may decrease, limiting their academic potential. Furthermore, this problem also extends to adults as they need to have a good vision in order to be able to work and provide for their families. This all could become a cycle. As parents are not able to provide the best financial support, they cannot offer their children a good education, and without proper education they may never find a good job.

Problema de Pobreza
Solución para el problema

The Solution

By providing them with eyeglasses, children would be able to read, write, study, participate in class and improve their day to day activities at school. Adults would be able to find jobs to support their families. We are agents of change, hoping that in the long term they will have better education and a better ‘tomorrow’.

Our Campaigns

Campaigns 1 & 2: Puno

Campaigns #1&2: Puno

On December 1st, 2023, we were thrilled to finally travel to Puno, in the Andes mountains, after organizing every logistic and financial aspect of our first donation campaign. We delivered prescription eyeglasses for both near and far vision to over 30 individuals, including children from 70001 School in Huajsapata and the "Colegio Glorioso Nacional San Carlos," as well as to a teacher and an elderly person.

Seeing the joy on the children's faces as they put on their glasses for the first time was immensely satisfying. It motivates us to continue helping more people see, read, study, and ultimately build a better future.

Campaign 3: Puerto Maldonado

Campaign #3: Puerto Maldonado

On December 16th, we had the incredible privilege of providing over 50 eyeglasses for both near and far vision to underprivileged elderly individuals at the “Apaktone” nursing home in Puerto Maldonado, Peru.

Witnessing their smiles as they put on their new glasses brought immense warmth to our hearts. Now, they can joyfully engage in activities they love, such as painting, playing chess, and reading newspapers and books.

Campaign 4: Puerto Maldonado

Campaign #4: Puerto Maldonado

On March 5th, Vision For Tomorrow conducted a second campaign in Puerto Maldonado. Our goal is to help people in extreme poverty who have sight problems by providing them with free eye exams and prescription eyeglasses. In this campaign, we helped over 80 elderly individuals by providing them with two pairs of eyeglasses if necessary: one for far and one for near vision.

Campaign 5: Lima

Campaign #5: Lima

Our largest campaign took place in December 2023, where we had the opportunity to help children living in extreme poverty at the I.E. Nº 1211 “Jose Maria Arguedas Altamirano” in Santa Anita, Lima. A professional ophthalmologist volunteered to measure the vision of over 200 students.

The joy and gratitude of the children when receiving their eyeglasses were overwhelming. Their smiles, and even tears of happiness, made this campaign unforgettable for us.

Campaign 6: Tambopata

Campaign #6: Tambopata

On May 15th, we donated over 30 sunglasses to the visually impaired in Tambopata, Madre de Dios. We chose to donate sunglasses because the strong UV rays in this part of the jungle can cause corneal injuries, and the use of sunglasses helps mitigate this damage, improving visual health and quality of life.

Campaign #7: Lima (Santa Anita)

On September 19, we had the opportunity to donate, together with an ophthalmologist, more than 300 magnifying lenses at the I. E #1211 "Jose Maria Arguedas Altamiro" school

Testimonies

“It was so gratifying seeing how the face of each child lit up when they were told we would give them their own pair of eyeglasses. For many students, this was a moment of relief because they could now read the blackboard in class in front of them, read their favorite books, and do their homework! The impact of something tangible and as simple as a pair of eyeglasses can change a child’s life, and this is what motivates me every day. I believe that proper vision and eye health is a right, not a privilege.”

— Caterina Zizold, Founder and Leader of Vision For Tomorrow

“Being able to give glasses to these children was an unforgettable experience. Seeing their reaction when they put on their eyeglasses for the first time is one of the best feelings ever. This truly is a unique experience, and I’m glad to have the opportunity to make such a difference in a child’s life because you never know what that child could end up giving back to the world. These children are now able to read and learn properly, and I hope to make more and even bigger campaigns in the future!”

— Rafaela Zizold, Manager of Vision for Tomorrow

“Having the opportunity to make a positive impact on a person’s life is a gift. Vision for Tomorrow has not only allowed me to help someone see better, but I also feel that I have been able to change someone’s life, and this has been an invaluable experience for me. Seeing the smiles of children with their new glasses, feeling their hugs and all their gratitude; it gives me the strength to continue, to help more and more. I feel deeply grateful and privileged for the opportunity to help. I love being able to bring happiness and contribute my small part in creating a better world.”

— Santino C., Volunteer

“It was an unforgettable experience because we help students have better vision and also witnessed how it transformed their lives and brought them happiness.”
