How We Turn Vision into Action
We look for schools or institutions where families suffer from absolute poverty, are dysfunctional, and hence do not have access to proper healthcare.
We establish an agreement with the school and schedule a week in which a volunteer ophthalmologist, along with his equipment and assistants, will visit the school in order to measure the sight of all students who are in need of eyeglasses.
We select a frame model for the student according to his or her age and gender, allocate it with the prescription, and place it in an envelope to be sent to the laboratory for the prescription lens fabrication.
Processed prescriptions are sent to the laboratory for the fabrication of the glasses according to their measurements.
Conduct a final processing: The laboratory sends us back the glasses, when received they are classified according to the classroom and grade of the students and finally distributed.
The delivery day is scheduled with the school, and students and parents are invited. The volunteer ophthalmologist also attends to personally hand out the glasses to each student and address any questions from the children or parents. Additionally, the ophthalmologist educates the families about the importance of proper eye health.
Organize fundraising for the next campaigns. We conduct campaigns to receive donations of glasses from people that no longer use them (we then change the lenses according each individual’s prescription). We start fundraising activities in schools and on social media.
